Aromatherapy course

NAHA is a leading aromatherapy organization in the United States with the mission to encourage the development of high standards of education that promote well-trained professional aromatherapy practitioners.

The International Federation of Aromatherapists (IFA) is the Professional Body for Aromatherapists. The IFA were the first established Governing Body in Clinical and Holistic Aromatherapy in 1985. The IFA have pioneered

Aromatherapy in NHS Hospitals, Hospices and Care professions and our expertise is shown in our educational programmes and member’s continual development and professional treatments.

Aromatherpist Level 1 (NAHA) / AromaCare (IFA accredited) 

This course is designed according to the approved aromatherapy education standards of The National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA) & The International Federation of Aromatherapists (IFA)

Course objective :

 

The course will teach participants to incorporate touch and certain creative ways with essential oils, primarily on the adult, elderly, children and for stress relief for those who have restrictive physical and mental conditions. The course is suitable for all those just start their interest in Aromatherapy, also allows already qualified practitioners to incorporate new skills into their existing practice. On completion of the course participants will receive a certificate of competence.

Programmer/Course Outline:

  • Introduction to Aromatherapy

  • The Therapeutic properties of 20 or above essential oils

  • Diluents such as vegetable oils including 5 or more carrier oils , other carrier bases and their applications in  Aromatherapy practice

  • 16 Case studies assignments

  • Learnt about endangered and threatened species of aromatherapy essential oils

  • Identify essential oil's quality and storage method

  • Learnt about the guidelines of aromatherapy manufacturers and explain aromatherapy essential oils production and extract method

  • Understand basic anatomy physiology and psychological behavior of aromatherapy

  • Understand the reaction of aromatherapy essential oils to the human body

  • Apply proper massage and nursing techniques to relieve stress and caring

  • Identify analyse the physical and emotional interactions of aromatherapy essential oils to improve health and mood conditions.

  • Understand the characteristics, functions and precautions of applying massages

  • Describe the basic chemistry of aromatherapy essential oils

  • Learn about the characteristics and contraindications of aromatherapy essential oils

  • Basic aromatherapy essential oil application methods, such as inhalation

  • Learn about the safety of aromatherapy essential oils

  • Providing quality service with professionalism

  • Explain professional consultant(Eg. G.P.) is recommend if it is not aromatherapist could do

  • Understanding Legal, ethical, privacy issues of the following professional recognitions :  International Federation of Aromatherapists (IFA) / National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA) / Training Qualifications UK  (TQUK)

Tutorial in classroom based :

50 hours (Part Time)

Medium of Instruction:

Cantonese supplemented with English terminology as appropriate

Entrance requirement : 

.Aged 18 or above 

.Suitable for those who are interested in Holistic Aromatherapy and want to be an

 International certified Aromatherapist(Level 1)

Other Requirements 

  • Students who are existing health professionals such as: Massage Therapists, Estheticians, Herbalists, Nurses, Physicians, etc. are required to provide proof of completion of Anatomy & Physiology from an accredited institution otherwise they have to take the equivalent classes & hours from a NAHA/IFA approved school

  • Anatomy & Physiology Level 1 is a undergraduate class which typically covers: Tissue & The Integumentary System; Skeleton, Joints & The Skeletal System; Muscle, Muscle Tissue & The Muscular System; Nervous Tissue & The Central Nervous System, The Peripheral Nervous System, The Autonomic Nervous System; The Endocrine System; Cellular Structure & Types, Basic Chemistry. (For NAHA)

  • Anatomy & Physiology Level 2 is a undergraduate class which typically covers: The Reproductive System; The Cardiovascular System; The Lymphatic System & The Immune System; The Urinary System; The Digestive System. (For NAHA)

  • For NAHA, Students must complete Level 1 and pass Level 1 internal assessment before admission to Level 2. 

  • For IFA, Aromatherapy (AromaCare) not a progress of the Diploma of Aromatherpist, no A&P exemption can be applied. A Practical assessment must be taken before graduated. 

Certificate of Completion : 

Upon fulfillment of the following requirements, 2 certificates of completion will be issued by International Federation of Holistic Aromatherapy to students, first for their application for NAHA accreditation, second for their application for IFA accreditation if pass the practical assessment.

Aromatherpist Level 2 (NAHA) / Aromatherapy Diploma (IFA accredited) 

This course is designed according to the approved aromatherapy education standards of The National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA) & The International Federation of Aromatherapists (IFA)

Course objective :

 

The Aromatherapy Level 2 course covers all aspects of clinical and holistic Aromatherapy, essential oils and carrier oils and their therapeutic benefits (theory and applications), professionalism, massage therapy, Anatomy and Physiology, emergencies, first aid, business development and more. The course is suitable for all those just start their interest in Aromatherapy, also allows already qualified practitioners to incorporate new skills into their existing practice. On completion of the course participants will receive a professional diploma of Aromatherapist.

  • Extraction methods of Essential oils

  • Administration and Storage of Essential oils

  • Method of Use and Contra Indications

  • The technique of Oil Blending

  • Acute and Chronic Toxicity

  • The Plant Families & Plant Science

  • Properties and uses of Carrier oils and floral water

  • Chemistry of Essential oils

  • Quality control / Essential oil Safety

  • Properties and uses of 60 Essential oils

  • The use of aromatherapy for special client group -pregnancy, baby and child care, elderly and cancer care and stress related conditions

  • Olfactory System

  • Skin & Hair Care

  • Body Massage- Benefit, contra-indications and techniques

  • Business Studies

  • Clinical practice - consultation record, client Reception and communication, the Treatment Room and Care of the Therapist

  • Aromatherapy Full Body Massage & Practice

  • Swedish Massage & Practice

  • Introduction to the Human Body and Pathology

  • Understanding Legal, ethical, privacy issues of the following professional recognitions : International Federation of Aromatherapists (IFA) / National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA) / Training Qualifications UK  (TQUK)
